First Level Operational Objective--Behavioural Objective
To demonstrate the required competency, the student must solve mathematics problems applied to woodworking in accordance with the following conditions, criteria and specifications.

Conditions for Performance Evaluation

  • Following instructions
  • Using a stock-cutting list
  • Using speed and feed charts
  • Using a calculator
General Performance Criteria
  • Correct analysis of problems
  • Appropriate choice of formulas
  • Correct application of formulas

Specification of the expected behaviour:
  • A. Estimate the cost of a product
    • accurate identification of main element that determines the cost of a product
    • accurate information concerning the cost of raw materials, that is:
      • accurate calculations of length, area, and volume
      • accurate estimate of waste percentage
    • accurate information concerning labour costs
  • B. Change the different speeds
    • appropriate changes according to:
      • materials
      • tools
      • cutting speed of tools
      • feed rates
      • machining process
